Why Bluestone Is The Perfect Destination For A Family Holiday | A Bluestone Blog Review

I love spending time with my kids and as a family we’ve had our fair share of adventures.

BUT, let’s be honest, holidaying with young children can be exhausting!

Bluestone however is one of those destinations that we never want to leave.

It’s actually the first holiday we took as a family of 4 when our youngest was only 6 weeks old!

Bluestone review
So tiny! The littlest will be 3 next week 😍

This probably sounds like a gushing paid for ad but I promise you it’s not! 🤣

I’m just really looking forward to our Bluestone visit next week! 🤗

Also, any (genuinely useful) parenting tips are good in my book! (Like this amazing hack that can help you to find a playground near you anywhere in the world!)

So, here are 6 things that make Bluestone the perfect family holiday destination…

1. It’s family friendly.

This has to come top of my list!

I can’t be the only parent who’s visited a ‘family friendly’ place only to find that it doesn’t feel all that friendly?!

Bluestone really is though.

The friendliness of the staff seems to rub off on everyone and there’s a relaxed and happy feel to the place.

It creates a kind of ‘Bluestone Bubble’ where everyone just understands what being a parent to young kids is like…i.e. it’s the kind of place where if you forget your babies nappies, 5 people will have offered you one before you’ve even had a chance to panic!

Maybe we’ve just been lucky…but I think that kindness is contagious.

2. It’s so much fun!

We’ve stayed at Bluestone quite a few times and it’s still somewhere that we all get excited about visiting.

There is a massive treehouse style climbing frame, climbing walls, a bouncy castle, softplay and little trikes in the Adventure Centre.

Scattered around are lots of comfy chairs so that you can sit with a baby or just rest and watch the kids play.

The Blue Lagoon Waterpark has slides, waves and a lazy river. There’s also a lovely shallow pool for little ones and it’s secure which means that you won’t have to spend the entire time chasing them around.

All that is before you even venture out into the 500 acres of beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside where Bluestone lays nestled!

3. It’s beautiful!

The setting really is just perfect and they’ve kept it that way with lovely log cabins and no-traffic roads.

If you have any time to explore off-site then you’ll find stunning beaches, rugged cliffs and wild hills on your doorstep.

Pembrokeshire is also one of the best places in the UK to star-gaze and Bluestone is no exception. With its  minimal lighting (bring a torch) it’s an awesome place to enjoy the wonders of the night sky.

4. The hidden gems…

Bluestone has such a cosy feel to it and yet we’re still discovering new things to do even after our numerous visits!

Camp Smokey has to be our favourite discovery. It’s like something out of a book.

A woodland path led us to a quaint wooden hut that sits surrounded by trees. Smoke curling up from the firepit. Music, laughter, a babbling brook and birdsong…the perfect soundtrack to toast s’mores and drink hot chocolate!

Another favourite of ours is the Winter Lights Trail.

“In the outer reaches of the universe, journey to the depths of forest, as the illuminated world filled with magic and enchantment returns to Bluestone’s ancient woodland.”

It’s magical!

5. The accommodation.

We’re usually Airbnbers when we travel so we’re used to things being a little hit and miss when it comes to child-safe accommodation.

Bluestone makes it so easy!

If there are stairs then there are stairgates. If you need a cot or a baby bath then you can have one. There’s a microwave, a dishwasher and more cooking paraphernalia than you’ll need for your week long stay (I’ll be attempting to bake a 3rd birthday monster truck cake there next week..eek!)

There’s a little patio outside with a picnic table. We’ve even had a lodge by the lake where the ducks came up for breakfast each morning!

6. It’s a great place to meet up with friends.

When we visit Bluestone it’s usually with friends and it’s lovely because  we can have a proper catch-up while the kids play happily.

There are also tonnes of parent-friendly activities that you can book on to, like archery and high-ropes.

In the Village you’ll find the Well Spa Retreat where you can book various treatments and use the luxurious facilities.

We’re really looking forward to the Serendome this time too as Bluestone have literally brought the outdoors indoors!

Now we’ll be able to enjoy the fresh air for longer as they’ve handily built a massive umbrella over a huge playground  and theater! You can also eat amazing foods from around the world!

7. You can get some real bargains!

By far the best thing for us is that we can get everything I’ve mentioned at an amazing price…just don’t tell too many people! 😂

So, if you’re looking for a really special place to take your family then Bluestone might just be it!
