How does a diffuser necklace work?
Essential oil necklace|how to use and the benefits of wearing one
How does a diffuser necklace work and why is wearing one great for your wellbeing?
We love essential oils!
Part of our zero-waste journey has involved switching to natural products in place of chemical perfumes and sprays.
We use essential oils for their beautiful aromas as well as for their therapeutic properties.
It’s important to always follow instructions for use especially if you are using essential oils around babies and children.
What are oils diffusing necklaces used for?
Oil diffusing necklaces not only smell great but they can also make you feel great too.
Depending on which oils you choose to diffuse, they can help you to relax, feel energised or less anxious.
Many essential oils are thought to be helpful in treating sleep, anxiety, pain, mood, nausea, and energy.
See below for a list to help you to choose which oils to diffuse on your necklace.
Ultrasonic Oil Diffusers are perfect for home use but they’re not really practical for using when out and about.
An oil diffuser necklace enables you to wear your favourite oil and take it with you wherever you go.
Whether it’s a weekend away or a business meeting in another city…you can always have your favourite oils with you.
This is particularly handy if you use oils to help calm anxiety or to fall asleep at night.
There are a few different types of diffusing necklaces but all of them are designed to slowly release the scent and associated therapeutic benefits throughout the day.

DIY necklaces
I made this oil diffuser necklace really quickly using some left-over air dry clay and cord that we had lying around.
A note of caution:
With all of these necklaces you will need to make sure that the oil is entirely sealed or dry before placing near skin or clothes.
I usually place a drop on my clay necklace and finish getting ready before wearing it. I’ve never had an issue with my clothes staining or skin being irritated this way (and I have eczema).
How does a diffuser necklace work?
Diffuser necklaces are really easy to use and it literally takes seconds to add your favourite oils and carry the scent with you all day.
The oil is applied slightly differently, depending on the type of necklace diffuser you have. However, they all follow the same basic principles.
You add a drop of oil to the absorbent material included e.g felt pad, clay bead.
A drop lasts around a day, although mine usually lasts two or three days before it needs topping up.
I usually wear my oil diffuser necklace on the inside of my clothes so that my body heat activates it (and to keep it away from my baby as he would chew it!) I sometimes bring it up to my nose to inhale the oils more deeply.
