Put simply, a good beginner paddle board is going to stay buoyant in the water and feel stable!
That means that volume is important.
The more experienced you are at SUPing or the faster you want to move, the less volume you’ll need.
Beginners want a Volume that is roughly double their weight in kg. So for example, if you weigh 90kg you need a paddle board with a Volume of at least 180 litres (90kg x 2 = 180kg/ 180 litres).

- iSUPs take up much less space than solid boards so are much easier to store at home or transport in the car.
- They are great for travelling as they just roll up and fit in a backpack.
- Perfect if your heading to water that’s not easily accessible by car…think tranquil lakes and estuaries.
